5 Reasons to Review Your Glasses

You do not need to diagnose a vision problem to ask about the condition, fit or style of your glasses. These five practical reasons can help you prepare a conversation with the shop; they are not a way to decide whether your prescription has changed.
1. Visible wear on the lenses
If the lenses are scratched or worn, ask about their condition and your options. Do not try to polish scratches away. ZEISS's care guidance explains that scratches in glass or plastic lenses cannot simply be removed by cleaning.
2. A loose or damaged frame
Keep the glasses and any detached pieces together and contact the shop. Whether a repair is feasible depends on the pair and available parts. A damaged frame is not automatically repairable; ask about the proposed work and quote first.
3. A fit you want checked
Explain if the frame slips or sits unevenly. SpecOptics offers frame/lens fitting and adjustments. An adjustment concerns the physical fit; it is not a prescription change or an eye exam.
4. A different style preference
You may want a new colour, shape or look. Compare options you like and ask about the current selection and cost. See our frame styling page and style guide.
5. You have a new prescription from your provider
If your eye-care provider has issued an updated prescription, bring it when discussing new lenses. Do not use symptoms or this list to decide on a prescription change. SpecOptics fills existing prescriptions but does not perform exams or change prescriptions.
Choose the next step for your pair
